Our 2024/25 Barclays Women’s Super League season was a journey of resilience and transformation. Under the guidance of Amandine Miquel, the team navigated challenges and showcased growth, culminating in a 10th-place finish and a highest-ever points tally recorded in the top flight (20).
We scored 21 goals in the process, winning five, all of which came at King Power Stadium, and drawing five more on our way to the final curtain.
Thirty-seven-year-old Janice Cayman was our top goalscorer in the WSL with four, claiming both the Goal of the Season prize for her strike against Aston Villa and the Players' Player of the Season award, while Hannah Cain and Shannon O’Brien netted three times each in the competition; the former scoring all her goals in the final two games.

The season commenced with significant changes as Miquel arrived from Stade de Reims, bringing forwards Shana Chossenotte and Noémie Mouchon with her, as Sari Kees, Chantelle Swaby and Ruby Mace further bolstered the squad.
Drawing 1-1 with Liverpool on the opening day, Jutta Rantala scoring her only of the year before picking up an unfortunate knee injury, we were beaten by Arsenal on the Manager’s home debut a week later.
Defeat to newly-promoted Crystal Palace followed on Filbert Way and reminded City of the pressure that comes with life in the top division of English football, as we then saw out a first clean sheet in a stalemate at Aston Villa.
Fan favourite Yuka Momiki scored the only goal in a first win of the season against Everton before a run of five games without a win, as countless injuries were threatening our options in attacking areas of the pitch.

Gaining confidence via a 5-2 win over Birmingham City in the Subway League Cup, we beat the odds heading into the winter break, holding the soon-to-be six-time champions Chelsea to a draw after Missy Goodwin’s opener. And the forward went on to pick up the fan-voted Player of the Season award at the end of the campaign.
Only one more team would go on to beat us at home this season from that result back in November, as we returned in the New Year with a 4-1 win over Stoke City in the Adobe Women’s FA Cup.
With injuries still plaguing the squad, Miquel addressed the transfer market with three new signings: Hlín Eiríksdóttir, Olivia Clark and Colombian prodigy, Karla Torres.
While our form on the road struggled, Leicester were flourishing at King Power Stadium, beating Liverpool, Villa and Brighton & Hove Albion, scoring eight goals in the process.

A penultimate away game of the season saw us beaten 5-1 by Arsenal at Emirates Stadium, before Man City took the points a week later, in late April, on home soil.
With two games to go, we had our sights set on a new record, hitting the road to face already-relegated Palace. Late drama ensued in the capital, and although O’Brien put us in front in additional time, Abbie Larkin’s late equaliser meant the points were to be shared.
The final day approached as an in-form Hammers team made the trip to the East Midlands, but Cayman’s scorcher in the first half set the tone. Cain’s brace and Sam Tierney’s astonishing strike from range toppled the scoreline in our favour, despite Viviane Asseyi’s brace.
A record fifth win in a single season, tallying up 20 points had been accomplished at the final stage, sparking celebrations that will run long into the summer, but with the ambition of going even further next time around.
