It’s been a while since our last outing on Filbert Way, with two trips to the North East, followed by a Subway Players Cup meeting with Watford, so we’re looking forward to being back on home soil as we also search for a first win of the month.
Ahead of our meeting with the Saints in Barclays WSL2, Passmoor has been speaking to the media at Belvoir Drive…
‘Review the progress’

Looking back on the first block of games that we’ve had, our Manager has been pleased with aspects, considering the young age of the squad, but wants to start seeing positive movement in the right direction regarding performances.
“We’ve used the time to look at the game model we’re trying to introduce,” Passmoor explained. “In such a short period of time, with a lot of change in the squad, we’ve wanted to review the progress.
“That’s not just on the pitch, but off the pitch, and we’ve looked at what’s going well and what we need to develop.
“We’ve seen good parts, but we want to build consistency in the game. We’ll be looking to ensure we continue in the right direction.
“But in a 10-12 week package, and the six or seven games we’ve had, I think we’ve done well, considering we have the youngest squad in WSL2, which is a long-term bonus too.”
‘This league is competitive’

With two wins and three losses from our opening five in WSL2, he is keen to get back to winning ways and keep Leicester towards the top half of the table, but understands the challenge in doing so.
Passmoor added: “This league is very competitive, and anyone can beat anybody on their day, and we need to adapt to the challenge, while remaining competitive.
“There’s a lot of positives from the opening block, but we need to keep moving forward as we head into Christmas.
“The feeling among the squad is good, they understand that we can be better and that can be frustrating at times, but the more these young players are exposed to this level of play, the more they’ll benefit.
“The players, behind the scenes, have taken a lot of accountabilities and are working well together, understand the direction of travel and are putting in the work to get there.”
‘They’re very physical and direct’
Southampton boast one of the best defensive records in WSL2 this term.

This Sunday’s visitors have won once this season but have shown to be difficult to score against. Wanting his side to capitalise on the two away goals last weekend, Passmoor gave a glowing report of Southampton in his pre-game analysis.
“As I said, everybody is picking up points and each team has their own style of play, and Southampton are very effective at WSL2 football,” the Manager continued.
“They’re very physical and very direct. They get onto second balls, they get in-behind with pace, as well as being well organised and drilled.
“Within this league, it’s going to be a challenge, but we’re playing at King Power Stadium which is always an advantage for us.
“We’ve got good players and we’ll look to implement our game plan and I’m sure we’re in for a big battle come Sunday.”
