Another 90 minutes for Harry Souttar as Australia lose out to Brazil
Christian McFarlane was in the England U20s side which beat France
Next up the young Lions play Germany on Saturday (4:30pm kick-off)
The Socceroos welcomed Carlo Ancelotti’s men to Brisbane having drawn 1-1 in the first fixture four days earlier. This time, however, it was the visitors who came out on top, winning 4-2 in an entertaining friendly at Suncorp Stadium.
Going behind to Vanderson’s early goal, the hosts equalised through Alessandro Circati, before Connor Metcalfe saw Tony Popovic’s side go ahead.
A Raphinha penalty levelled the scores on the stroke of half-time and the visitors took control in the second period. Back in front via Bruno Guimarães, a second penalty, from Vinícius Júnior, made the game safe.
Elsewhere on Tuesday, Christian McFarlane played 90 minutes as England Under-20s recorded a 2-1 victory over France to go top of the U20 EURO Elite League.
Forward Shumaira Mheuka and captain Mikey Moore scored inside a quarter of an hour as Darren Moore’s side established a two-goal lead early in the first period, prior to Prosper Peter netting a consolation.
Now sitting six points ahead of Czechia in second place, McFarlane and the young Lions are back in action on Saturday, tackling Germany at Estadi Olímpic Camilo Cano (4:30pm kick-off).
