  • Youth Employability Hub has engaged with over 135 young people aged 16-24 since launching in July
  • Twenty-seven young people have progressed into employment, training or further education to date
  • More than 341 young people, young people’s services and partners recently attended a Careers Fair at King Power Stadium
  • The Hub is delivered in partnership with the Department for Work and Pensions and Leicester City Council
Delivered in partnership with the Department for Work and Pensions (DWP) and Leicester City Council, the Youth Employability Hub supports young people aged 16-24 who are not currently in education, employment or training (NEET).
Based at King Power Stadium, the Hub provides a welcoming and accessible space where young people can access personalised support to help them build confidence, develop employability skills and take positive steps towards their future.
Since launching in July, the Youth Employability Hub has received 135 referrals, with 57 young people engaging with the service and 100 per cent agreeing to take part in the support available.
All 57 engaged participants have completed a CV and taken part in a mock interview or interview experience, helping them to develop the skills and confidence needed to progress towards their goals.
Employment is currently the most common progression outcome, with 17 young people progressing into employment or apprenticeships. A further six young people have progressed into training, while one has progressed into education and two into volunteering.
Participants have also progressed into a range of opportunities including internships, work experience placements, King’s Trust programmes and vocational courses.
Through one-to-one support, CV and interview preparation, employability workshops, skills-based training and connections with local employers and training providers, the Hub provides young people with the guidance and opportunities they need to overcome barriers and take their next steps.
Beneficiaries who have engaged with the Youth Employability Hub have shared their experience: “Coming into the Hub based at King Power Stadium has been the best part of my time with the Youth Employability Hub. It is a more relaxed environment for appointments. The Youth Employbaility Hub is less formal, which makes it easier to talk and feel comfortable.
“The courses I attended also helped a great deal. I really appreciate the help from the Youth Employability mentors at the Hub, who have helped to put me on the right pathway to achieve my goals.”
Cory Holas, Youth Employability Hub Project Coordinator at Leicester City in the Community, said:“It has been fantastic to see how the Youth Employability Hub has developed since launching in July. Every young person comes to us with different experiences, ambitions and barriers, so our focus is on providing support that is tailored to them and helping them take that next step.
“To have already supported 27 young people into employment, training or further education is a great achievement, and we’re continuing to build on this by working closely with our partners, employers and local services to create more opportunities for young people across Leicester.”
Bringing young people and opportunities together

As part of its ongoing work, the Youth Employability Hub recently hosted a Careers Fair at King Power Stadium, bringing together more than 341 young people, young people’s services and partners.
The event provided an opportunity for young people to meet directly with local employers, training providers and support organisations, while finding out more about the different routes available into employment, training and further education.
The Careers Fair also highlighted the importance of partnership working in supporting young people, bringing together organisations from across Leicester to help create accessible pathways and opportunities.
By providing a space where young people can meet organisations, ask questions and explore their options, the event complemented the ongoing one-to-one support available through the Youth Employability Hub.
