  • Chris Popov found the net for Wales Under-21s on Monday evening
  • Captain Jordan Ayew played 80 minutes for Ghana, registering an assist in a 1-0 win
  • Patson Daka was also involved in a defeat for Zambia
  • More international action for Leicester City players is expected on Tuesday
Popov was on target for Wales Under-21s, netting their second goal in a 6-2 defeat to Denmark in UEFA U21 European Championship qualifying. The forward struck in the 28th minute, adding to Tanatswa Nyakuhwa’s opener, before the visitors responded with six unanswered goals. Popov played just over an hour, with Wales sitting fifth in Group I after their opening fixture.

Later in the evening, Ayew skippered Ghana to a valuable FIFA World Cup qualifying win over Mali. The experienced forward featured for 80 minutes as the Black Stars secured a 1-0 triumph courtesy of Alexander Djiku's strike shortly after half-time, reacting quickest to Ayew's corner.
That result keeps Ghana clear at the top of Group I, three points ahead of Madagascar with two games left to play. That's now six goals and five assists in eight matches of the qualifying campaign for the 33-year-old.
Elsewhere, Patson Daka completed the full 90 for Zambia in their 2-0 reverse to Morocco. Goals from Youssef En-Nesyri and Hamza Igamane condemned the Copper Bullets to defeat, leaving them third in Group E, four points adrift of second-placed Tanzania.
Jannik Vestergaard, meanwhile, was an unused substitute in Denmark’s 3-0 success away to Greece. Despite not featuring, the result leaves the Danes top of Group C in European qualifying, having collected four points from their opening two matches. Ben Nelson also did not feature for the England Elite League squad in a 2-0 win over Kazakhstan at the start of their U21 European Championship qualifying campaign.
The international programme continues through the week, with more Foxes expected to be involved across the globe. Check back to LCFC.com, the LCFC App and @LCFC social for updates before our internationals return to the UK for domestic duties once again.
