Victor Kristiansen is back in training as he works back to fitness
Central midfielder Skipp sustained a concussion during the 1-1 draw at Wrexham earlier this month and is subject to protocols before he can return to action. Defender Ben Nelson, on the other hand, will be assessed after being withdrawn at half-time during last weekend's reverse to Oxford United. Elsewhere, Victor Kristiansen is back in training, with the Danish left-back absent from matchday squads since early November as he works back towards full fitness. First Team Coach Andy King will oversee preparations with the squad for the Addicks fixture, a 12:30pm GMT kick-off, and he spoke to the media on Friday morning.
“[Nothing] fresh,” King told reporters, on the condition of the squad. “We will be without Oliver Skipp because of concussion at Wrexham. Hopefully he'll be back after this weekend. He's gone through training and stuff like that, he's been fine, but he will miss this game.
"Everyone else is longer term. Harry Souttar has been out for a while, he won’t make the game. Aaron Ramsey will be probably March at some point, Jordan James [is] longer term [than Charlton], so nothing new. “The lads have been good, trained really well. Victor Kristiansen has been back with us, who has been out for a long time. He's been back on the grass in training, which is a good boost for us. [Nelson is] getting on okay. He’s been out on the grass. We’ve not trained today, so we’ll take a decision on him and everyone else after training this afternoon."
Expanding on Skipp's concussion, he added: “It’s an FA or a league protocol which we’re following. He was actually okay in himself shortly after it. With head injuries, it’s out of our hands. It’s an FA protocol which every club has to follow. It’s a shame, he’s been doing good recently, and he’ll be a miss, but hopefully after the weekend, I think he'll be back.”
With two midfielders out, in Skipp and James, when asked about Harry Winks’ availability, King explained: “Potentially. Winksy, like everyone, has been training with the group. He's been training with the group all the time. We’re short with Skippy's injury, with JJ’s injury. “He’s trained, he’s trained well. Like always, he’ll be available for selection. We've not actually trained [yet] today, so I've not had a look at what the final squad list will be, but like always, he's been available and we’ll see how we feel this afternoon after the training.”
