The 29-year-old arrives in Leicestershire with a wealth of experience, having made over 450 appearances across Sky Bet League One, Sky Bet Championship and the Premier League.
Speaking to LCFC.com, Conor said: “I’m very excited to be here. Leicester City is a massive Club with a brilliant fanbase, which has been obvious to me every time I’ve competed against them. I’m extremely grateful to be given the opportunity to play for this great Club, and I will give everything, every day, to achieve what we set out to. I’ve had some great experiences in my career so far, but there is a lot more I want to achieve.
“I like to play with an all-in attitude, energy, and a desire to help the team in any way I can. I’m looking forward to showing the supporters what I can bring. I can’t wait to meet the lads, get out on the training pitch with the Manager and his staff to help this team as much as I can.”
Born in Worthing, West Sussex, Chaplin joined Portsmouth aged six and progressed through the Pompey academy to make his senior debut in 2014. His breakthrough season on the south coast would culminate with Chaplin winning the 2014/15 League Two Apprentice of the Season award.
He enjoyed the first of three EFL promotions in 2016/17, in a campaign that saw Portsmouth finish runners up of League Two - with the attacking midfielder making 39 league appearances.
A further four years in League One followed with Portsmouth and Coventry City before Chaplin linked up with Barnsley in the Championship. His first season at Oakwell would see a return of 13 goals across 47 appearances in all competitions.
A move to Ipswich Town materialised ahead of 2021/22, and his second promotion swiftly followed as Chaplin spearheaded the Tractor Boys’ 2022/23 promotion to the Championship as the League One top goalscorer with 26 goals.
Back-to-back promotions were achieved for the Suffolk side, with Ipswich finishing Championship runners-up in 2023/24. Chaplin scored 13 goals and registered seven assists across all competitions.
He made 22 appearances in the Premier League before confirming a return to Fratton Park for 2025/26 and subsequently made 42 appearances in Pompey colours on loan in the Championship last season.
Conor will now join the Leicester City squad in Seagrave as preparations for the new season continue at LCFC Training Ground.
