Foxes captain Lorenz Hutchinson’s close-range finish put the young Foxes one up at Toughsheet Community Stadium just before the break.
Julian Darby’s side fought back shortly after, Toby Ritchie finding Latrell Lewis in the area to send the ball past Freddie Marson with a first-time finish.
That saw us into extra-time, with the hosts soon ahead for the first time. Lewis turned provider, latching on to Tomiwa Adesina’s cross and picking out Ritchie, who smashed the ball into the roof of the net from six yards out.
But City weren’t down and out. Hugo de Lisle equalised, beating Luke Lomax to send the game to penalties. Ritchie, Sam O’Neill, Denver Clement and Jack Mawditt all scored from the spot for the Whites.
De Lisle missed, before Lomax made a fine stop from Hutchinson. Sam Hopkinson also saw his effort saved by City ‘keeper Marson, but Mawditt converted to seal a 4-3 penalty shootout victory and their place in the next round.
