  • LCFC Women were beaten 2-1 by Aston Villa in the Barclays WSL on Sunday afternoon
  • Alisha Lehmann’s first goal for the Club wasn’t enough to earn points on Filbert Way
  • Manager Rick Passmoor felt proud of the team despite defeat at home
We led at the break through Alisha Lehmann’s goal, but the visitors got back on level terms soon after half-time, courtesy of Anna Patten’s goal, and Kirsty Hanson found a late winner at King Power Stadium to leave us 12th in the Barclays Women’s Super League standings, three points adrift at the bottom of the table, but with a game in hand.
It’s a sixth straight league defeat for Passmoor’s side, who showed encouraging signs at King Power Stadium but were ultimately beaten by Natalia Arroyo’s Villa team.

“I think it’s two areas,” the Manager’s expressed following full-time on Filbert Way. “I’m really proud of the team, really proud of the people on the bench that came on and obviously the supporters backing us all the way up to the 99th minute.
“We’ve just got to have that bit of luck I think because we’re a little bit frustrated and disappointed again on the emotional side. In terms of the way and will, it’s there, the togetherness is there and the culture is there.
“We’ve just got to make sure, technically, we make the right decision at the right time and the players are learning and developing all of the time.”

Another opportunity to put points on the board in front of the Blue Army comes this Sunday against Brighton & Hove Albion (3pm GMT kick-off), with the need for points becoming ever greater, with five matches remaining in 25/26.
“We know we’re in a little bit of a fight down at the bottom,” Passmoor continued, “but I said to them before, you wouldn’t want to be in any other changing room if that is the case, so keep the fans behind us, because the tide will turn.”
