After defeat to Truro City and a draw with Sutton United, the young Foxes had work to do heading to Laithwaite Community Stadium and produced a valiant performance against senior opposition.
Heading into the break goalless, Leicester opened the scoring when Riley Carr set up Lorenz Hutchinson to score his second in as many games, also netting from the spot in Friday night's Premier League Cup victory at Cardiff City. The hosts quickly responded, however, with Taylan Harris restoring parity and Josh Kelly soon putting the Cardinals ahead. The side coached by Leon McSweeney were not to be denied a point, though, with Alpha Diallo drawing us back level with 13 minutes remaining.
That saw the game head to spot-kicks, where Craig Ross' men emerged as victors to claim an extra bonus point and rise to second in Group D, while City sit seventh, on two points from three matches.
Boston United await at Jakemans Community Stadium on Tuesday 3 November (7pm kick-off) in our final group game.
Before then, it's a return to Premier League 2 action for the Foxes youngsters, who travel to face Tottenham Hotspur at Hotspur Way this Sunday (1pm kick-off).
