LCFC Women face Birmingham City on Wednesday evening
The Women’s League Cup fixture is to be played at Meadow Lane with a 7pm GMT kick-off
We want to see more of the ball, stated Amandine Miquel
Focus now switches to the League Cup for Leicester, who know a win against the Blues, and positive results elsewhere, will see them qualify for the knockout stages.
Breaking up a busy WSL schedule in the lead-up to Christmas, Miquel is hoping to see a reaction from the Foxes following Sunday’s loss to Manchester City. “That game in-between the two WSL games is good and will hopefully give us some more time on the ball in that game,” the Manager said.
“Then we will be able to produce a bit more of our game plan because when you are running out of possession it’s hard, even more so when it’s freezing like Sunday.
Switching focus to the League Cup.
“We need to keep working and hope that the game will give us good confidence for the WSL as well.”
Although Wednesday’s opponents currently play in the Barclays Women’s Championship, they are top of the standings and must therefore be treated as if they are a WSL club, says Miquel.
She added: “We take all the opponents very seriously, and for me, the two leagues and levels are very close, especially when Birmingham are top of that table, so we have to play Birmingham like a WSL team.
“It will be great to get through, but first of all we need to win and for Brighton not to win so we will see at the end of the game how we did.
“It also gives us the chance for younger players to play and give them the opportunity to experience that level.”
