LCFC Women face Newcastle on Sunday afternoon (2pm BST kick-off)
Our Manager Rick Passmoor provided the latest fitness news on the team
Leah Eddie could return, says Passmoor, who also provided an update on Olivia McLoughlin
The games keep coming thick and fast for LCFC Women, who make the trip to Gateshead International Stadium this Sunday to face league leaders Newcastle.
Aside from our longer-term injuries, such as Sam Tierney, who suffered an ACL injury in our home victory over Durham, our Manager was pleased to announce that Scottish centre-half Eddie could be once again available for selection.
City head to Newcastle after a midweek defeat to London City Lionesses.
“There has been a lot of recovery and rehab following the game on Wednesday, but they’ve been on the pitch in good spirits, and there’s a nice vibe around the training ground,” he told the media at Belvoir Drive.
“Olivia Clark, Celeste [Boureille] and of course the skipper, Sam Tierney, is out with a long-term injury. The good news is that Leah Eddie has her first session back on the pitch today.
“We’ll test her tomorrow (Saturday) and see how she does and whether she can be part of the squad for Newcastle this weekend.”
McLoughlin is nearing a return to fitness.
Passmoor then provided an update on midfielder Olivia McLoughlin, who hasn’t featured yet this season due to an ankle injury, but said she is recovering well.
“Liv McLoughlin remains out,” our Manager added. “She had a little injury at the back end of August and then she rolled her ankle quite badly.
“She’s only 21 but she’s very integral to our plans so we want to make sure she’s fully fit when she comes back. We think she’ll be back on the pitch with the team during the next international break.”
