The 3-0 reverse means Daka’s nation cannot reach the last-16 stage of the competition, after finishing fourth in Group A with two points.

A brace from Ayoub El Kaabi and Brahim Díaz's solitary goal were enough for Morocco to see out the victory at Prince Moulay Abdellah Stadium, helping them top the group.

Daka started AFCON with a goal against Mali in Zambia's opening game, a 1-1 draw, while that was followed by a 0-0 stalemate with Comoros – ultimately not enough for qualification.

Bilal El Khannouss, on loan at Stuttgart, was an unused sub for Morocco, while Woyo Coulibaly, with Sassuolo this term, also wasn’t involved for Mali on Monday.
