Coventry City emerged as 2-1 winners in Saturday’s M69 Derby
The Sky Bet Championship leaders came from behind at CBS Arena
Jordan James had broken the deadlock 10 minutes into the contest
Ricardo Pereira reflected on a frustrating afternoon for the Foxes
We had started well at Coventry Building Society Arena, leading at half-time through Jordan James’ ninth goal of the season, but couldn’t make the advantage count.
Ellis Simms restored parity straight after the break, and a late Haji Wright goal saw the Sky Blues snatch all three points.
At the end of an M69 Derby defeat, Ricardo felt missed opportunities to go further ahead prior to the interval cost us taking anything from the game.
Taking some heart from the first-half performance, though, there’s another chance to earn a positive result at Wrexham on Tuesday night (8pm kick-off).
“The first half was very good, I think,” the skipper reflected post-match. “We created a lot of chances, we scored first. He (James) been helping, working hard, scoring goals, defending, I'm happy for him to have him. We could have scored more with the chances we had.
“And we knew at half time, we spoke, be ready, they will come. And we cannot concede after 30 seconds or a minute. We need to be better; we cannot play just 45 minutes.
“It needs to be more consistent in terms of 90 minutes and not just 45, maybe take more in the game, have more personality.
“When they are up in the game, maybe try to have the ball a little bit more to calm the game down, manage the match tempo, and then build our confidence and our momentum to create some chances.
“We need to know that the second 45 will be a little more difficult than the first one. We knew that the fans would push them, and we needed to be more ready for that.
“I didn't watch it back, but I don't know, maybe silly goals. That’s the way I felt in the game, I'm not sure if it's what really happened, but that's my thoughts.”
