We were beaten 3-0 by Wolves at Molineux Stadium on Saturday
Bilal El Khannouss was frustrated Leicester City weren't able to build on recent performance
The Moroccan wants us to give the fans reason for cheer in the remaining games
Saturday’s 3-0 reverse halted a mini run of encouraging performances from Ruud van Nistelrooy’s men, who already know their relegation to the Sky Bet Championship is confirmed. A 2-2 draw at Brighton & Hove Albion was followed by a spirited, if fruitless, performance against new top-flight champions Liverpool. The display at Wolves, though, was below those standards and led to a 24th defeat of a disappointing campaign.
“We wanted to keep playing the way we played the last two games,” Morocco international El Khannouss said. “We didn’t show enough in the first half. In the second half to show another face, but unfortunately we conceded the second one. We kept trying to score, we missed that penalty, a chance to come back into the game, and then it’s done.”
El Khannouss had a chance in the second half to get City back in the game, alongside José Sá’s penalty-save to thwart Jamie Vardy. Those are moments where Leicester need to capitalise if they are to start improving their points tally before the end of the season.
“That’s football,” he added. “If you don’t score on one side and concede on the other one, you have to do better in those situations. That’s one of my points I have to work on. Like I said, we all just wanted to keep building on the last two games.
“We didn’t show enough today. There’s still a few games left to show ourselves. We have to do better than the first half.
“We just tried to give everything in the second half to change the game. We conceded at the wrong moments. Now we have some games left to give everything for this Club in the Premier League.”
Saturday’s game saw an in-form Wolves outfit, with confidence flowing freely after six wins in a row, overcome a Leicester side who have just won once in 2025 in the Premier League. That difference was stark at Molineux, but El Khannouss says the team must keep working to give the Blue Army some optimism before the season’s end.
“Confidence makes a lot in football,” he added. “As a player, in the dressing room, it’s very important to have confidence. When you see a difference in the confidence, with the way they played today, we had many chances to come back in the game and we didn’t use them. It’s then impossible to win.
“We have to give everything. We have to show the best face we can show because we have to show ourselves the best way possible, to give the best image of this Club. We’re going to give everything until the end.”
