The Blue Army generated a memorable atmosphere at King Power Stadium as City marked the closest fixture to Khun Vichai Srivaddhanaprabha’s 61st birthday with a third consecutive win.

On 61 minutes, every corner of the venue rose to their feet to pay homage to the Club’s beloved late Chairman – and Rodgers described it as a ‘special occasion’ at full-time.

Captain Wes Morgan set the tone after just 12 minutes in the Leicester sunshine, netting his third goal in four matches, before Jamie Vardy struck for the 13th time this season.

“It was a great day, the supporters enjoyed it, and it was another important three points,” Rodgers said. “It’s the players on the pitch... they make the supporters happy and that’s why we’re here.

“We’re here to win games and to play a brand of football that’s aggressive and attacking and I think the supporters responded to that in the second half.

“They could see what the players were giving and, on a day that was a special occasion, I think they showed their appreciation to Khun Vichai – which was a lovely touch.

We’re starting to see the ideas coming through after three or four weeks and I thought our pressing and our aggression in the game was outstanding.

“That generated through into the players and gave them energy which is absolutely vital in any team.”

As City’s players continue to exhibit their understanding of Rodgers’ methods, a total of nine points from a possible 12 has propelled them up to eighth in the Premier League standings.

Following a weekend of no domestic action, meanwhile, the 46-year-old was particularly pleased with the cohesiveness of his side’s football, as well as their exciting attacking play.

Rodgers: A Really Good Feeling

Brendan Rodgers spoke with LCFC TV after a positive display to beat the Cherries 2-0 at King Power Stadium on Saturday.

“Especially on the back of an international break, I thought we were very cohesive in how we played,” Rodgers added.

“We’re starting to see the ideas coming through after three or four weeks and I thought our pressing and our aggression in the game was outstanding.

“Apart from one or two moments in the first half, I thought we controlled it very, very well and, with the ball going forward, we were very exciting today also.”
