Ahead of Sunday’s behind-closed-doors Premier League encounter with Manchester United at King Power Stadium (4pm kick-off), LCFC.com details five final day clashes from the last decade...
Nottingham Forest 2 Leicester City 3Sky Bet ChampionshipSaturday 4 May, 2013The City Ground
Leicester entered the final day of the 2012/13 season knowing that even a win may not be enough to secure a place in the Championship play-offs.
Opponents Nottingham Forest were also in the hunt for a top-six berth and it was the home side who opened the scoring through Simon Cox, with the game just three minutes old.
City piled on the pressure and the game eventually turned on its head when Matty James deflected effort found its way into the Forest net, before Andy King headed the visitors into a half-time lead.
Forest defender Elliott Ward looked to have salvaged a point, which did neither side any good, but Anthony Knockaert, who also assisted City’s second, popped up with an injury-time winner to move Leicester into the final play-off spot.
The Foxes went on to lose the semi-final in dramatic circumstances, as Knockaert’s missed penalty was followed by a late winner for Watford in the second leg, sending the Hornets into the final at Leicester’s expense.

There were contrasting emotions at King Power Stadium in May 2014 as City celebrated promotion to the Premier League for the first time in 10 years.
Former Leicester striker Paul Dickov was in the opposition dugout, with his Doncaster Rovers side needing to match Birmingham City’s result to remain in the division.
However, two late goals from the Midlanders, which saw them draw with Bolton Wanderers, condemned Rovers to relegation by virtue of having a worse goal difference.
David Nugent’s penalty proved to be the difference on Filbert Way, scoring his spot-kick after James Husband brought down Riyad Mahrez in the box.
Striker Kevin Phillips was substituted to a rousing reception from the Blue Army mid-way through the second-half, in what was his final appearance before retirement, having enjoyed a 20-year career.
Victory for the Foxes meant that they ended the season on 102 points, nine clear of second-placed Burnley, who were also promoted to the top flight under Sean Dyche.

Sitting bottom of the Premier League table at the start of April, seven points away from safety, City won six of the next eight games to steer clear of relegation, before finishing the season off in style with five goals and another three points.
Jamie Vardy, fresh from his first international call-up, opened the scoring, while Marc Albrighton made it two just before the break, smashing in Jeffrey Schlupp's cross, as Leicester took total control of the game.
Leonardo Ulloa and Esteban Cambiasso - on his final appearance for the Club - both added their names on the scoresheet within a minute of each other, putting the result beyond any doubt.
Rangers were already relegated going into the game, but did pull a consolation goal back via Charlie Austin’s header, before Andrej Kramarić tapped in City’s fifth late on.
Nigel Pearson’s side ended a remarkable 2014/15 campaign on 41 points, in 14th position, having looked certainties for relegation at the turn of the year.

This end of season battle with Chelsea is fondly remembered for bringing the curtain down on the Foxes’ greatest-ever Premier League campaign.
After winning the title with two games to spare, City were given a guard of honour by the Chelsea players to recognise their position as champions of England. Fittingly, it was Guus Hiddink’s side who they replaced as the title holders.
It was also a Stamford Bridge return for Claudio Ranieri, who had managed the Londoners between 2000 and 2004. Ranieri enjoyed a warm reception from the crowd and was also presented with a gift from the home side.
The game itself proved to be an entertaining stalemate, including 35 shots on goal, and ultimately the points were shared.
Both goals came in the second-half, firstly Cesc Fàbregas converted a 66th-minute penalty, before Danny Drinkwater levelled matters for the Foxes eight minutes from time with a stunning 30-yard strike.
The Foxes, who had already lifted the trophy following the home victory against Everton earlier that month, finished the season 10 points clear of second-place Arsenal.

Although last season’s finale against Chelsea didn't carry nearly as much drama as some of the other games highlighted here, it was still a memorable occasion on Filbert Way for several reasons.
Full-back Danny Simpson and forward Shinji Okazaki, two players who made significant contributions during the Club’s 2015/16 Premier League title-winning season, were introduced as substitutes for their final appearances.
Standing ovations followed for both and Okazaki almost marked the occasion with a goal - he was inches away from getting on the end of Ben Chilwell’s cross late on, while Simpson’s last game ended with a clean sheet.
Leicester’s fifth-consecutive season in England’s top flight ended with the traditional lap of appreciation around King Power Stadium as the Club’s players and staff thanked the fans for their support during the season, in which City finished ninth.
