LCFC Women were beaten 7-0 by Arsenal on Wednesday evening
The loss confirmed our spot in a play-off fixture at the end of the season
Rick Passmoor shared his thoughts post-match at Emirates Stadium
It was a tough night for the Foxes, seeing our fate confirmed midweek at Emirates Stadium, after the Gunners put seven past us in matchweek 20 of the Barclays Women's Super League. Resigned to bottom spot, and a play-off game with the third place team in WSL2 towards the end of May, Passmoor believes this offers clarity to the team heading into the final few weeks of the term.
"Right now, we're frustrated and disappointed, but the clarity is that we're going to be in a play-off fixture," he stated. "Therefore we have to make sure we are all together and aligned in how we want to play and we keep the right mentality.
Arsenal hit seven past Leicester on Wednesday evening.
"We want to be in the right place, not just for the play-off game, but also the Chelsea and Everton game because we need to work together, and ensure this group play to the best of their abilities when we play in that play-off game.
"Momentum shifted and it is a game of confidence, because for 20-25 minutes, we were resolute at the back and used the ball well, but what we've got to work on is that mindset and mentality that when you concede it's not the end of the game."
Goalkeeper Olivia Clark, who started the fixture in the absence of Janina Leitzig, was withdrawn through injury at half-time, handing Katie Keane her first start for the Club and in the WSL.
The Foxes will take part in a play-off game to decide their fate for next season.
Full of praise for the 19-year-old, who had to put on the gloves in a tough situation, the Manager urged his side to stick together, with it all to play for in this upcoming one-off game.
"Our first team goalkeeper is injured, and now our second is injured, but then it created a great opportunity for Katie [Keane] to come in who I thought did brilliantly, considering the tough circumstances," Passmoor continued.
"When it's a case of get your gloves on and play, you saw her capabilities and she's got all the ingredients, so we're going to keep working with her to develop her game.
"We've got everything to play for. We understand where we are as a group of players. We have to be bonded and focused on the task which lays ahead."
