London City Lionesses scored twice late on to beat LCFC Women
The Foxes started their Subway Players Cup at Meadow Lane on Wednesday evening
Libby Bance reacted to the effort put on by Leicester
Two goals towards the final stages of the game made the difference, and although the night ended in defeat for LCFC Women, it was a valiant effort by the Foxes at Meadow Lane. Speaking to us at full-time, Bance thanked the fans for their support in Nottingham as we now build towards a WSL2 fixture with Newcastle this weekend.
“I think it’s a performance to be proud of,” the midfielder commented. “We dug in deep and fought so hard for each other. It was an excellent performance that we can take into the weekend.
Battling hard at Meadow Lane
“They were relentless, but so were we in our defence. There were some great saves from Katie across the whole game, and the defence worked to hard so very proud of the team.
“The fans were excellent and we can always hear them; it gives us that extra boost, so we do want to say thank you to everyone that came out tonight.
“We want to give our all in the cup, but also in the league. We’re looking forward to the journey up to Newcastle and hopefully we can bring back three points.”
