  • LCFC Women beaten 2-1 by Tottenham Hotspur on Sunday afternoon
  • Spurs scored two goals in six minutes from Cathinka Tandberg and Olivia Holdt
  • Sam Tierney pulled one back for us in the first half at King Power Stadium
  • Rick Passmoor is confident it is a step in the right direction despite defeat
Two quick-fire goals from Spurs in the first half were enough for them to see out the win at King Power Stadium on Sunday afternoon, although Sam Tierney’s strike put the pressure on for close to an hour of the game.
Frustrated to fall to a first home loss of the season, Passmoor understands there will be disappointment within the Foxes camp but wants to look beyond the result and focus on the performance.
“I think we’re disappointed and frustrated because if we had delivered the game plan in certain moments then we would’ve been more proactive and not conceded two soft goals,” the Interim Manager explained.

“However, in terms of the principles and our core values, and the culture we’re trying to create, you can see that in abundance.
“I think there were moments that showed why people will want to come down and watch us play. We just have to consolidate our learning and correct the mistakes going forward.”
He added: “We have to look at ourselves as a group of staff; we set the team up and we set the game plan. There were moments in the game that Spurs caused us problems with their movement so we’ve got to look at ourselves and think ‘how can we get that message across to the players earlier’.

“We were just a fraction of a second off it at times, but those are the moments we saw in the rest of the game, dominating possession, looking to play and winning our duels.
“We just need to finish those chances that come to us in and around the box.”
Finishing on a positive note, Passmoor has urged the fans to stick with us, commending their support on Filbert Way, as the team start to show their principles in full flow.
“The outcome is disappointing, but many people will look at how we play, the process, and I do think it’s a step in the right direction,” Passmoor continued.
“Short term, it’s a difficult result, however if I reflect on the week we’ve had with the three games, there are so many positives, and the players are providing a very good backbone as to what we want to achieve at Leicester City.”
