On Sunday, the Foxes were beaten 3-1 by Tottenham Hotspur at Wembley Stadium, despite delivering a convincing performance in the capital.

Debutant Tielemans, after putting in an assured display in the heart of midfield alongside Wilfred Ndidi, felt City were unfortunate to suffer a defeat against the 2018/19 title challengers.

Tielemans told LCFC TV: “I think we deserved more today, we created some good chances in the beginning and at the end also, but when we tried to push at 2-1, they made the third goal and it was over for us.

The goals from Wembley Stadium as Claude Puel's side are beaten 3-1 by Spurs in the Premier League.

“We have to stay positive for the next games that are coming, I think we have a lot of points we can take in the next few games, so we have to stay focused for the next part of the season.

“I think the difference today was they took their chances and they scored directly. We didn’t, we could [have been] 2-0 up after 20 minutes, I think in the next games we have to finish our chances and then we’ll be fine.”

We’ve got two weeks to prepare for the next game and we’ll work hard to get three points in the next game and I’m really excited to play in front of our fans.

Tielemans reflected fondly on his Premier League debut, and hopes to build on his outing when Crystal Palace and Brighton & Hove Albion visit King Power Stadium in the space of just four days later this month.

He added: “I felt good today, I created some good chances and, with my team-mates, we made some good moves, so I’m happy about my debut but disappointed with the result… that’s more important.

“We’ve got two weeks to prepare for the next game and we’ll work hard to get three points in the next game and I’m really excited to play in front of our fans.”
