Foxes Legends & Fans Unite For adidas Home Kit Launch Fest!
Members of the Blue Army waited patiently outside the Foxes Fanstore for the 9am opening of a special 'Launch Fest' event, which was staged to celebrate Leicester City’s new adidas kit.
Following a reveal campaign which used football to unite Leicester’s community, the kit's unveiling underlines the different meanings that wearing the shirt brings to people from all walks of life.
The new Foxes adidas home kit, featuring a unique chequered design, white shorts, and a stylish gold trim, as well as a colourful array of three goalkeeper kits, went on sale on Saturday morning.
New Home Kit Launched At Foxes Fanstore!
Supporters headed to the Foxes Fanstore at King Power Stadium on Saturday to be the first to buy Leicester City's 2019/20 adidas home kit!
With a wide spectrum of events laid on by the Club at King Power Stadium, supporters were able to enjoy anything from face painting to football freestyle tutorials outside the Foxes Fanstore.
Four City favourites – Matt Elliott, Steve Walsh, Gerry Taggart and Matt Piper – were also on hand to help where needed, while Leicester City Women ran football sessions outside.
Throughout the day, thousands of Foxes fans got kitted up ahead of Sunday’s visit of Chelsea to King Power Stadium, where Leicester will wear the new adidas home kit for the first time.
Taggart, one of four former first team players to be there and even help on the tills at one point, told LCFC TV: “It’s a very nice shirt which adidas have produced for Leicester City this season!
“There are subtle changes and the gold detail is something I’m sure the supporters will like. There’s a real sense of optimism around the Football Club at the moment.
“Events like this are great for the Blue Army to come down and meet some of us at King Power Stadium and make sure that they’re one of the first people to get the new home shirt!
Introducing Leicester City's 2019/20 Home Shirt
Leicester City have unveiled the Football Club’s brand-new 2019/20 home kit, produced by adidas, which is available to buy now!
“There’s been a real buzz, a real energy, about the place in the last three or four weeks and we've seen that yet again here at King Power Stadium this afternoon.
“Hopefully tomorrow (Sunday), with the last game of the season out of the way – and maybe three points in the bag – that momentum gets carried through all the way to next season.”
Foxes supporter Ronny Finney, meanwhile, was delighted by the design: “I think it’s fantastic! The design empowers all Leicester fans… strong and clean.
“I like the gold stripes and the criss-crossing of the shirt. It's just fantastic. I've got the white shorts as well! The Club does a great job in looking after the fans and there's a great atmosphere.”
Former Leicester captain Walsh, on the other hand, whose first Foxes shirt was a subtle pinstriped design back in 1986, labelled this year’s kit ‘the best’ in the Club’s long history.
He said: “I love the design, l love the colours! It’s the best shirt we’ve had by far I think! The colours, the gold, even the badges, the adidas kit... it’s top drawer.
“We’re on the big stage now, we want everything [to be] the best and we’re nearly there.”
