Firefighters who were present on the evening our beloved late Chairman died in a helicopter crash last year completed a half-marathon around the King Power Stadium pitch on Sunday, raising funds for The Vichai Srivaddhanaprabha Foundation.

- Wearing full firefighter kit and carrying a 15-kilo breathing pack, they completed over 50 laps in two hours and 18 minutes

Wearing full firefighter kit and carrying a 15-kilo breathing apparatus pack, Joe Robinson, Jamie Gear, Nick Lackand and Dave Tennant were supported by family and friends in the stands on Filbert Way.

Joe, Jamie, Nick and Dave were among the first on the scene at King Power Stadium as a helicopter crash on 27 October, 2018 took the lives of Khun Vichai and four other people.

After the Leicester Marathon was cancelled earlier this month, they contacted the Football Club to request using King Power Stadium as the venue to run over 50 laps of the playing surface.

Race organisers said anyone who proved they had completed the distance would still receive a finisher's medal after flooding meant it was unfeasible to stage the yearly marathon across the region.

On Sunday, the firefighters arrived at the Club's home venue with the hope of raising a combined total of £2,000 for The Vichai Srivaddhanaprabha Foundation and The Firefighters Charity.

Before completing the half-marathon in just two hours and 18 minutes, writing on his JustGiving page, Joe said: "He (Khun Vichai) gave so much to the city of Leicester and not just for football fans.

"To show our gratitude, and as a mark of respect to all those who lost their lives that night, we want to do something in return."
