- The Club’s youngsters beat the League 1 outfit convincingly in Round 2 of the Leasing.com Trophy
- Muskwe netted twice in the triumph in Yorkshire, before George Hirst rounded off the scoring

Muskwe scored twice at the Keepmoat Stadium to help the young Foxes progress to Round 3 of the competition, while strike partner George Hirst was also on target with a minute to play.

The Development Squad’s seventh win on the spin in all competitions saw them advance in the knockout stages, and they will discover their next opponents on Thursday night, when the draw for Round 3 takes place.

“Like you’d expect, all of the boys are buzzing,” Muskwe reflected to LCFC TV. “It was a great team performance and a great team result, and we’re happy to get through to the next round.

“I think it shows how far we’ve come. We started off beating Sunderland and we’ve come here and also beat Doncaster, so it shows the progression we’re making as a team and as individuals.

“That feat, at any level… seven straight wins is something to be proud of. It shows the work that we’ve been putting in, and it’s starting to pay off. It’s a great achievement for the team.”

Muskwe’s partnership with Hirst has flourished this term, and while the 21-year-old was delighted to bag a brace in the convincing triumph against League 1 opposition, he insisted it was all down to a solid team performance.

“Me and Hirsty get along well and we sort of feed off one another,” he added. “It’s proven to be a problem for the defenders.

“We’re going to continue that. I’m delighted with the two goals, but most importantly with the team’s result as well.”

The Development Squad are next in action on Monday night, when they entertain Everton at Holmes Park in Premier League 2 Division 1 (7pm kick-off).

As always, City supporters can watch the game for free on LCFC TV from 6:45pm.
