Following strikes from Harvey Barnes and Ricardo Pereira, Mark Noble's penalty narrowed the arrears, before Pérez's brace, which included one spot-kick, wrapped up a memorable evening.

The Spaniard is now up to seven goals for the Foxes in his first season with the Football Club, but the two efforts on Wednesday were in fact his maiden efforts on Filbert Way.

Reflecting on City's 15th Premier League victory of the season, Pérez highlighted the importance of bouncing back from successive defeats in such emphatic fashion.

"It was a great performance by the team, a great result - very needed - and I’m very happy to be able to help the team with goals as well," he told LCFC TV.

It feels so great to be able to score at home. It took a bit of time, but it’s worth it at the end.

"We knew we had to bounce back. The best way is with a performance like we did today. It’s a great result.

"From the very first minute, we were pressing high, building momentum, high tempo... so it was about attitude and the courage to get a result. We did well tonight.

"It feels so great to be able to score at home. It took a bit of time, but it’s worth it at the end. Two [goals] today, and hopefully many more to come."

With City now due to face Brentford in the Emirates FA Cup Fourth Round on Saturday, before a Carabao Cup Semi-Final second leg tie at Aston Villa, Pérez says they are braced for a big week.

All the goals from the Foxes' big victory over West Ham at King Power Stadium in the Premier League.

"We need to take advantage of that confidence because we have been struggling a little bit in the last couple of home games," he added.

"This was the reaction of a big team, of a team that wants to keep pushing, to keep winning games, and to prove that we are in a great position.

"It's a great week for us, very important. We need to make sure we go through and then two massive games… the semi-final of the Carabao Cup.

"We need to make sure we are ready for it, we prepare ourselves and we push with our lives."
