The Wales goalkeeper has been a strong performer in City’s run to this stage of the competition, keeping clean sheets against both Wigan Athletic and Brentford in previous rounds.

A valuable presence for the Foxes in cup competitions, the 26-year-old will be in contention to appear once again for the visit of Sky Bet Championship side Birmingham City.

Ward told CITY Matchday Magazine, which will be available for just £3 on Wednesday: “We’re professional football players at a big club and we want to win trophies.

Ward has played against both Wigan and Brentford in the FA Cup this term.

“We want to leave a lasting stamp from this group of lads to show that we’ve brought success to Leicester.

“The FA Cup was a huge disappointment for us last season and something that we want to put right this year. We were miles off the pace when we went down to Newport and we paid the price.

“We’ve learnt from that game though and I think that’s been proved in both cups this year. Burton, Luton and Brentford away are all tough games but we showed the right attitude and got the results.

“I think that shows a real improvement in the mentality we have within the squad.

“But now we turn attentions to this season and we’re definitely not here to make the numbers up – we want to be successful and ultimately win the trophy.”

Ward knows it will be difficult against a Birmingham side who are on a 13-game unbeaten run in all competitions, which stretches back until New Year Day.

“Ultimately if we get our performance right we’ll have a great chance of progressing to the next round.”

In the league, the Midlanders are sitting comfortably in mid-table and will be targeting an extended cup run.

He added: “It will be a tough game. They’ve been on a good run and we all know how tough it is to go on a run like that in the Championship.

“We’ll prepare for it like we do every game, do our analysis and work hard on the training pitch. We definitely won’t be taking them lightly; they have a lot of threats that we need to be aware of.

“Ultimately though, if we get our performance right we’ll have a great chance of progressing to the next round.”
