Castagne got City off to a perfect start in the second period, heading home Dennis Praet’s cross for 1-0 before two penalties from Jamie Vardy extended their advantage at the Hawthorns.

The Belgium international, who joined the Foxes from Serie A side Atalanta this summer, felt his side’s persistence paid dividends against Slaven Bilić’s Baggies.

He told LCFC TV: “In some games, it’s like this. You have to choose the moments and also, we have to find the weak spots of the opposing team and we could find it in the second half.

“We did it well, and that’s why we won. We kept playing, we kept trying, and in the end, we didn’t give anything away. We scored three goals.

Castagne: I'm Very Happy With My Goal

Leicester City debutant Timothy Castagne spoke to LCFC TV after his goal helped the Foxes to a 3-0 win over West Bromwich Albion.

“Also, the most important thing is we won. We don’t get goals against, so it’s a team effort and I’m obviously very happy with my goal.”

Goalless at the interval, Castagne says manager Brendan Rodgers passed on some words of advice to his players – and that gave them the tools to go on and win the game in the second period.

“He said [at half-time] that we have to play faster,” Castagne revealed. “Also he gave us some tactical things we should try or change.

“Obviously, it worked out pretty well, so that was good.”

While Castagne has not spent a great deal of time in Leicester following his move to King Power Stadium, the Belgian is looking forward to a week of training with his team-mates in preparation for their Premier League encounter with Burnley in six days’ time.

“I’ll try this week to get myself comfortable in the city, but it’s not going to be an easy week because we have to work hard for the next game,” he said.

“Obviously, I’m happy to train more with the team and get a better feeling of the tactics."
