Morgan: A Brilliant Away Display

- Manager Jonathan Morgan spoke of his delight at recording back-to-back league wins

The Eagles took an early lead when Cherelle Khassal fired the home side in front, but the Foxes came roaring back, with two goals on the stroke of half-time and another two after the break sealing a second straight FA Women's Championship win.

While Morgan felt the scoreline could have been more flattering for the Foxes, he was more than happy with how they performed throughout the contest.

"It's a brilliant result, two wins on the bounce, especially off the back of last week, it was really important to assert our authority today within the league," he told LCFC TV after the game.

"We're delighted with it, obviously I think it could have been a lot more, we had numerous clear-cut chances, I think we hit the woodwork four or five times over the course of the game.

The players were fantastic, they just kept going even though we were 1-0 down. We didn't look out of sorts, we didn't look like we were panicking.

"The way we played, we were pleased and everything we worked on came out in the game today and I think it could have been double figures, with the amount of chances that were made.

"Crystal Palace defended really well, they put their bodies on the line, but I just think our dominance today really showed.

"The players were fantastic, they just kept going even though we were 1-0 down. We didn't look out of sorts, we didn't look like we were panicking.

"We just knew it would only be an amount of time before we got our goals in. It should have probably been a few more but I'm really pleased."

City's attacking threats combined to devastating effect, with forward pair Natasha Flint and Lachante Paul getting on the scoresheet at Hayes Lane, alongside a brace for Remi Allen, to swing the game firmly in the Foxes' favour after going a goal behind.

A brace from captain Remi Allen helped guide LCFC Women to victory at Hayes Lane.

Morgan feels the squad is continuing to improve their understanding of each other both on and off the pitch, which he hopes will lead to even more impressive performances later on in the campaign.

"I think more importantly for me, they are starting to gel off the pitch," he explained. "That's where the real change will happen.

"Once they start to understand each other, the on the pitch synergy will just naturally grow. Today and [against] Liverpool, we just had two good games where we have shown how we are gelling together.

"I still think we're not there yet, there's still a long way for this squad still to go this season, but we're definitely on the right track."

City are back in the capital after the international break and will be looking to record a third consecutive league win.

Heading into the international break with maximum points from the last two games, Morgan believes the team will be ready to pick up where they left off in two weeks' time, when they travel to face London City Lionesses.

"We'll give them a few days off just to say well done for the last couple of weeks," LCFC Women's manager added. "Then we'll come back in and prepare for our next game as normal.

"It just gives us a nice little push now into the international break to come back and continue. We've got a friendly put in there as well just to blow the cobwebs out after the few days off.

"But it's just a lot of recovery, regeneration time and then we'll look to hit the ground running really. We'll have a few of our injured players back as well, which will be great too."
