It's About Our Squad, Says Rodgers

A brace from Kelechi Iheanacho and solitary efforts from Dennis Praet and James Maddison sent the Foxes on their way to a thoroughly impressive 4-0 win over SC Braga on Filbert Way.

City are top of Group G and, ahead of the upcoming gameweek, second in the Premier League after netting 14 goals in their last five outings in all competitions, conceding just twice.

It's a feat which is all the more impressive when coupled with the reality that Ricardo Pereira (ACL), Wilfred Ndidi (adductor), Timothy Castagne (hamstring) and Çağlar Söyüncü (adductor) remain out.

Whoever plays, Leicester keep winning at present, and Rodgers was delighted by the efforts of players who have come in to help City make an excellent start to the 2020/21 campaign.

There’s not 11 players that will get the job done for us. The players that have come in have been exceptional – all of them.

"The players have made it very easy," the Northern Irishman said, following Thursday's triumph over Braga. "I’ve always said it’s about our squad this season.

"There’s not 11 players that will get the job done for us. The players that have come in have been exceptional – all of them."

Whether it be remaining members of City's 2015/16 Premier League title squads, or exciting youngsters who are improving all the time, the full squad is playing a role in the Foxes' fine form.

Rodgers added: "We’ve got some big players that have been out for us, but this is about the squad; guys like Marc Albrighton, Wes Morgan, Christian Fuchs… he’s been incredible.

"Hamza [Choudhury] coming in, doing the job, and like you see, Kelechi. He’s not playing too much, but he comes in… but that shows you how hard they’re working in training.

"It shows you how focused they are in order to succeed."

While Leicester are in a commanding position in the battles to quality from Group G into the knockout stages of the Europa League, Rodgers says there is work to be done.

"It’s the first three games," he explained. "We’ve got three more games to go and our objective was to finish top of the group and qualify, so we still have work to do, but it’s a good first three games."
