Ademola Lookman and Ivan Cavaleiro found the net for the Cottagers at King Power Stadium, before a Harvey Barnes consolation strike, in a 2-1 defeat for the Foxes on Monday evening.

Ahead of Thursday's UEFA Europa League trip to Zorya Luhansk, Elliott, Taggart and Cottee reflected on the encounter with Scott Parker's men and previewed that clash with Ukrainian opposition...

Finding a spark

City carried an increased threat after the introductions of Cengiz Ünder and Harvey Barnes.

Gerry Taggart said: “You have to look at both teams. You have to say that Fulham were hungry. They had energy. Whether what’s going on in the European arena played a part, I personally think it is, but Leicester lacked a spark. They almost got it after making the substitutes, with Harvey Barnes coming on and pulling one back, but at the end of the day, it just wasn’t to be. Sometimes, as a collective, you’ve got to say they looked a little bit tired.”

Praise for Fulham

Scott Parker's men delivered an impressive performance in Leicester on Monday.

Tony Cottee said: “First and foremost, we need to say that Fulham played very, very well. They didn’t play like a team that’s down there in the bottom three. They frustrated Leicester, defended very well and, on the counter attack, they looked very dangerous – and that was throughout the whole of the game. The warning signs were there in the first 10 or 15 minutes and it’s important to stress that because Fulham did play very well.”

Excitement on the horizon

Harvey Barnes got a goal back for the Foxes against Fulham late on at King Power Stadium.

Matt Elliott said: “We’ve got three exciting games coming up and, if we get good results there, there’s every chance we’ll still be top of the league, or on par with the rivals up there. It’s a missed opportunity tonight, so you would think they have that as an incentive. As Gerry’s mentioned, it did look like they were a little tired after the European games. In every season, you go through a little phase where things don’t quite work out.”

Move on quickly

Brendan Rodgers
Brendan Rodgers

Brendan Rodgers' men have a busy schedule ahead of them on several fronts over the winter months.

Gerry Taggart said: “This game will be analysed, Brendan [Rodgers] will go over it with the players, and then it’s put to bed. You have to put it to bed. You also have to learn from it, there’s no doubt about it. You have to move on and move on quickly. Albeit they’re playing a game in a competition which they’ve already qualified in, you could say there’s not too much riding on the game, but one thing that is riding on it is a confidence booster.”

This season's rollercoaster

Leicester have secured several impressive results and endured frustrating outings already this term.

Tony Cottee said: “(This season will be a rollercoaster) for all teams in the Premier League. It’s very, very tight, all the teams are beating each over, which is great for the Premier League. It has been a rollercoaster ride. Leicester haven’t drawn a game in the Premier League yet this season, it’s six wins and four defeats. We always say, when you don’t play very well, you’ve got to try and nick those points. Those points can pick you up a bit.”

Games come thick and fast

The Foxes travel to Slavutych Arena in Zaporizhya on Thursday.

Matt Elliott said: “It’s a blow. Despite Fulham playing very well, here at King Power Stadium, you want it to be a fortress. You’ve got to be strong minded and strive past these disappointments. Remember what got you into this position. They’ll be deflated for a day or so, but they’ve got to bounce back again (at Zorya Luhansk) on Thursday. The games are coming thick and fast, as usual this season, which is a positive for Leicester.”
