James Maddison netted a brace while Jamie Vardy was also on the scoresheet during his record-equalling Premier League appearance for the Foxes, who now sit just a point adrift of top spot in the Premier League.

Discussing this and much more on LCFC Radio's Matchday Live show, Elliott, Taggart and Hammond were united in their admiration of City's convincing performance against the Seagulls, which was a third straight win in all competitions...

Rodgers' tactical switch

Matt Elliott said: "The players executed his (Brendan Rodgers') intentions and quite magnanimously as well. As soon as that tactical switch was made, they were the superior outfit and they were cutting Brighton open. Opportunities were coming just their way, not Brighton's as well and they were snuffed out of the game, the visitors. The quality took over, the drive, the athleticism and the precision that Leicester City possess, came to the fore."

Jamie Vardy scored Leicester's second goal of the evening at King Power Stadium.

Gerry Taggart said: "It was comprehensive, empathetic, majestic. [They were in] cruise control in that second half. All the damage was done in the first half. In the first five minutes it was a bit of a ding-dong game, but after the change in the formation, Leicester took control of the game. On paper you expected Leicester to win but it could have been a tricky game. That paled into insignificance after that first 15 or 20 minutes, so congratulations to the players. That was as good of a performance as you'll see from Leicester City."

Brendan Rodgers watches on from the sidelines as his side cruise to victory over Brighton.

Dean Hammond said: "They are just showing a different variety to their game where they can have that real attacking quality first half when they need to get goals, when they need to chase the game and up the tempo and play with real high intensity. Then second half, just be nice and composed, keep possession, keep moving the ball, attack, come back out, keep possession again and just tire Brighton out."

Manager Brendan Rodgers congratulates James Maddison after full-time.

Matt Elliott said: "It's hard to look elsewhere than James Maddison. As much as anything, for the pure quality of that second goal and the overall performance. Two goals and one's an absolute worldie as well. He came off towards the end and wasn't pulling the strings all the time. James Justin impressed me massively, he's an unsung hero at times."

A professional performance

City were three goals to the good at half-time and controlled the game in the second half.

Dean Hammond said: "Some exceptional goals to make it 3-0 and then second half it is a professional performance where it's just about staying calm and relaxed, very composed, keeping possession of the ball, not doing anything drastic to allow Brighton back into the game. They were superior, looked fitter and stronger and just had that extra quality. Brendan Rodgers needs to take a lot of credit to see that game wasn't panning out in the first 10 minutes, make that change and then Leicester were completely dominant."

A balancing act

The Foxes kept a second consecutive home clean sheet in all competitions.

Gerry Taggart said: "Any club that takes on the rigours of European football and then has to go straight back in and challenge to keep that momentum in the Premier League, they are going to come across hiccups along the way, that's football for you. We mentioned the size of the squad and the fact that Leicester haven't drawn a game and they're in third place. I think these are the things you have to take into consideration. They are going to lose games, but the way Brendan [Rodgers] has handled the situation that all clubs find themselves in is commendable and the results back that up."
