Castagne: Back With A Win

The Belgium international full-back had not featured since the 1-0 win at Arsenal in late October, missing 12 games across all competitions during that period.

However, after recovering from a hamstring injury, Castagne played an hour at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, where Jamie Vardy’s penalty and an own goal from Toby Alderweireld secured the points for the visitors.

“Yes, it’s good to be back, especially with a win here against a very good side,” Castagne told LCFC TV. “It’s great to be back. It feels very good. I’ve missed it, and when you can play again, it’s great.

“You see your team-mates, and you want to help, but you cannot, so hopefully it’s not going to happen anymore and I can help as much as I can.”

City’s success in the capital saw them claim their ninth Premier League win of 2020/21, and Castagne felt his side did well to deal with Spurs’ pace on the counter-attack in a game that they were ultimately more clinical in.

“It was big,” Castagne continued. “It’s always difficult to score against them because they’re doing a very good job on the defensive side and then going on the counter-attack with such speed.

“But I think we didn’t give anything away. It proves that if we’re at our best, we can do everything, but we have to be more consistent.

“We just have to be better at home because we’re doing very well away, but we just have to take away that against the big teams, we’re doing well.

We just have to keep playing each game, and we’ll see what happens. We can do something good this year.

“We just have to play a bit better against the smaller clubs. There are no small teams in the Premier League, but the lower teams. We just have to stop losing points.”

City are now second in the Premier League – a position they will retain on Christmas Day – and next entertain Manchester United at King Power Stadium on Boxing Day (12:30pm GMT kick-off).

“It’s pretty good, but the most important thing is that we have to be second at the end of the year,” said Castagne of Leicester’s standing.

“We just need to look at the next game now and don’t think too much about the second place.

“We just have to keep playing each game, and we’ll see what happens. We can do something good this year.”
