Schmeichel's Denmark Through To EURO 2020 Last-Four
- Denmark through to the semi-finals of UEFA EURO 2020
- City's No.1 played the full match in the Danes' 2-1 victory over Czech Republic
- Schmeichel is the only remaining Leicester City representative at the tournament
- England await Denmark in the last four on Wednesday
The Foxes goalkeeper, who helped the Danes defeat Danny Ward's Wales 4-0 in the last-16 stage last week, was selected to earn his 70th cap for his country at Baku Olympic Stadium.
Despite losing their first two group fixtures, De rød-hvide have discovered an impressive run of form and were ahead within five minutes when Borussia Dortmund midfielder Thomas Delaney headed home from a corner.
Schmeichel was called upon after 22 minutes, sending Tomás Holes' left-footed effort behind for a corner, but was largely untroubled throughout a first half that concluded with Nice forward Kasper Dolberg doubling the lead with a neat finish following a fabulous team move.
Kasper Schmeichel
City's No.1 led by example as Denmark reached the semi-finals of EURO 2020.
The 34-year-old made another stunning stop to deny Antonin Barak from the edge of the area early on in the second half, but could do nothing to prevent joint-top EURO 2020 goalscorer Patrik Schick from scoring his fifth goal at the tournament to give Czech Republic hope.
The Czechs pushed for an equaliser, but couldn't find a way past Schmeichel, who dealt with a dangerous Petr Sevcik free-kick late on as the Danes booked their place in the semi-finals.
Denmark will play England in the last-four on Wednesday night at Wembley Stadium, after former Foxes Harry Maguire and Harry Kane both netted in the Three Lions' 4-0 last-eight triumph against Ukraine later on in the evening.
