The 22-year-old had spent her whole career at Birmingham City, working her way through the youth ranks within the Blues’ academy before emerging in the first team, ahead of moving across the Midlands following the expiry of her contract over the summer.

Conversations with manager Jonathan Morgan only increased her positive thoughts on what the Club is building, and she sees a bright future ahead for the newly promoted side.

“It’s pretty amazing really and I’m just so excited to be here,” Scofield commented in her first LCFC TV interview. “When Leicester came in, I was over the moon.

“I’ve been there (at Birmingham) since the Under-10s so I’m a big fan of the club. It was a big decision, but it just felt right at the time.

The 22-year-old midfielder takes in her new surroundings at Belvoir Drive.

“Speaking with Jonathan [Morgan] and seeing the Club, I know that they are on the right path and are very ambitious. It’s just a really exciting journey and one that I can’t wait to be a part of.

“It’s an exciting time for us and for the WSL, it’s a really exciting league to be in at the moment, so I can’t wait to get started.”

Scofield became the Foxes’ seventh new signing of the transfer window this week and joins with Barclays FA Women’s Super League experience under her belt having made 29 appearances in the top-flight since her debut in 2016, scoring once.

The midfielder has also been reunited with former Birmingham team-mates Georgia Brougham and Abbi Grant, and wants to ensure she can make an impact on the pitch during LCFC Women’s maiden WSL campaign.

I like to think I have a lot of energy as a box-to-box midfielder, I’ll do anything for the team and just support the play, really giving some energy to the midfield.

She continued: “I think I’ve played with some great players, and I’ve experienced different managers and those kinds of things so hopefully I can use that experience and help the other girls as well.

“I knew a couple of the girls in particular and I’m just happy to be with them and it’s just great to be in a new environment.

“Obviously I want to just to get training and playing and just doing whatever I can to help the team and push them on that journey after what they’ve achieved.

“I like to think I have a lot of energy as a box-to-box midfielder, I’ll do anything for the team and just support the play, really giving some energy to the midfield.”
