Participants on Leicester City in the Community’s Inclusive Leicester programme will now seek further coaching opportunities after completing the BT/FA Playmaker qualification.

The BT/FA Playmaker course is a free online entry-level football course, perfect for anyone interested in taking a more active role in grassroots football.

Alongside learning this theory, the five participants taking the course were able to showcase what they learned in the classroom, by running session drills with their fellow participants.

Alisha, an Inclusive Leicester participant, is one of the five who successfully passed the course, and she spoke about what she aims to do now.

It has been really good to work together (with Leicester City in the Community), and I can only see that being a benefit in the future.

“I would like to continue further with the qualification and eventually coach teams like the coaches at Leicester City in the Community do,” she said. “I also want to continue improving that qualification until it is the highest level I can get it to.

“It’s been amazing, and I recommend anyone to do it if they think it is worthwhile!”

Leicester City in the Community are working in partnership with the FA to give participants the opportunity to enhance their coaching skills, as well as explore careers in the coaching sector.

Lee Brown, FA Regional Coach Development Officer, has been assisting with the course, and he says the input from the participants has really helped them get the most from the opportunity.

“The participants have been so enthusiastic, especially those five that have completed the course,” he said. “We will look to give the five coaches that have completed the BT/FA Playmaker an opportunity to coach in a grassroots football team.
