The Senegal international midfielder helped the Foxes extend their unbeaten run against the Red Devils to five games after Kelechi Iheanacho’s header earned a point away from home.

It could have been more for City too, as James Maddison had a late winner chalked off by VAR, and Mendy believes all three points wouldn’t have been an unjust reward for the visitors.

“This evening, we played well, but it’s frustrating because we started well and we had so many chances and at the end it’s 1-1,” he told LCFC TV. “We have to keep the positives for the next game, and we’re ready.

We Had Good Energy, Says Mendy

Papy Mendy was pleased with the nature of Leicester City's display at Old Trafford as the Foxes drew 1-1 with Manchester United on Saturday.

“We came back in a good time, we played well, we had good energy, and everyone wanted to fight for each other. We can see that today, and hopefully in the next game we can get a better result.”

Mendy has now started Leicester’s last three Premier League matches, while he also helped Senegal qualify for the 2022 FIFA World Cup finals over the international break. He has played a key role for both club and country in recent months.

“For me, I just want to enjoy,” he said of his involvement. “When I have an opportunity to be on the pitch, I just do my best, enjoy and try to help the team to get a result. It’s as simple as that.”

We have to be ready, get our recovery today after the game and be ready for the next game.

Coming up for Leicester on Thursday is the first leg of their UEFA Europa Conference League Quarter-Final tie with PSV Eindhoven, with Mendy excited for what the final two months of the season will bring.

He said: “We have to be ready, get our recovery today after the game and be ready for the next game. We have good players, a good team and we train well. We have a lot of competition between us, and I think hopefully we’re going to finish a good season.”

After being substituted in injury time, Mendy said of his fitness: “It’s okay, just a little cramp, but nothing bad.”
