A 3-1 reverse in Manchester on Sunday marked the Foxes youngsters’ first loss of the Premier League 2 Division 1 campaign, following a 2-2 draw on the opening day of the season.

Coming up against the reigning PL2 champions, it was likely to be a tall order to take something from the game, and second-half goals from Dire Mebude and Jadel Katongo secured the points for Man City, though the forward felt the team kept fighting until the final whistle.

A look at the goals from the Leicester City Development Squad's 3-1 reverse against Manchester City at Academy Stadium.

He told LCFC TV in his post-match interview from Academy Stadium: “It was a frustrating game, the fact that we lost. I thought we really dug in until the end, we worked hard but it wasn’t enough for the three points.

“Man City are a really tough team. We knew it was going to be really hard, so we went to work that extra bit. But overall, as a team, we couldn’t get the points.”

Scoring a first-half equaliser which cancelled out Carlos Borges’ opener, Maswanhise continued his fine form in front of goal, with two to his name in as many matches at the start of the season.

The lads are all positive and we’re all concentrating on the next game right now. Obviously, we’ve got to move on from this defeat.

Taking that confidence and belief forward will be key, he believes, in order to keep flourishing at the top end of the pitch and make a difference for the team.

“I’m happy that I got the goal,” the 19-year-old admitted. “Right now, I’m in scoring form and I’m getting every shot I can right now to get a goal and luckily it went in.
