City’s No.10 was on the scoresheet once again at Molineux, after Youri Tielemans and Harvey Barnes had netted first-half goals to move the Foxes into a commanding position. Jamie Vardy added a fourth for Brendan Rodgers’ side to round off the scoring.

A first victory on the road this campaign, Maddison admitted it was a weight off the players’ shoulders to finally put that to bed and was especially pleased with the manner of the performance at both ends of the pitch.

Speaking to LCFC TV in the aftermath of Sunday’s game, he said: “It’s really nice to get an away win, it feels like it’s been a lifetime. And the way we did it as well, we were outstanding from start to finish.

“The first half was quite a fast-paced, open game but I think we got to grips with our press and structure and even though Wardy (Danny Ward) had a few saves to make, I felt like we were in control, even when they had possession, because our shape was good.

“We pressed the game well and we scored four brilliant goals so it’s an away win that we’ll take a lot of confidence from.”

Leicester had plenty of defensive work to do to ensure they would maintain a clean sheet for the second successive game, backing up another important victory against Leeds United at King Power Stadium three days earlier.

Now sitting 17th in the Premier League, the England international believes City are now able to look upwards, though he always had confidence in their ability over the course of the season to pull away from their current position in the table.

The Goals - Ruthless City Beat Wolves

All four Leicester City goals from a 4-0 triumph over Wolverhampton Wanderers in the Premier League.

The midfielder explained: “When you’re in a tough period like we have been away from home, that’s what it takes – everyone putting their body on the line. You need your ‘keeper to make saves, you need your defenders to make big blocks and you need your attackers to score the goals.

“It all came together today and it’s a really nice feeling around the dressing room. It’s not been a lack of goals because we’ve been scoring a lot, even away from home. We scored two at Arsenal, two at Tottenham.

“It’s just been about shutting up shop in the times of adversity and being strong. In the Premier League, there are such good teams and there’s no easy game, and you are going to come under pressure no matter who you play.

“You have to stay strong in those times and actually coming out the other side and riding the storm. Every team is going to put pressure on and I think we did that brilliantly.

I feel as confident as I’ve ever felt. I feel a threat in games, always close to being there for a goal or an assist for the team and long may that continue.

“People talk about the table because we were bottom going into the game but realistically, in a 38-game season, there’s a lot of football to be played. We’ve had a bit of a slow start, especially away from home, but we’re picking up clean sheets now.

“In the last five, I think we’ve had four clean sheets and a convincing win in midweek and then a quick turnaround to Sunday and another convincing win. We know things can change for us and that’s what happens in football.

“We’ve got back-to-back wins and if we get another win, you’re looking at the table differently, in mid-table. We’ll keep doing what we do and keep being positive and hopefully have more performances like today.”

Netting for the sixth time in the top-flight this term, Maddison also reserved praise for team-mate Tielemans’ stunning strike, which broke the deadlock in the West Midlands.

A Nice Feeling, Says Maddison

James Maddison offers his thoughts on Leicester City's 4-0 win at Wolves - which included another goal from the No.10.

“I actually couldn’t believe it to be honest,” the 25-year-old enthused. “Youri’s got a good showreel. I think that might top the bunch to be honest.

“He tries them in training every day... magnificent technique. You have to be a top technical player to be able to do that and there’s not many who can do that. He deserves all the plaudits he’s getting for that finish.

“I feel as confident as I’ve ever felt. I feel a threat in games, always close to being there for a goal or an assist for the team and long may that continue.”
