The Foxes were 4-0 winners back in October at King Power Stadium but the two teams are now level on 17 Premier League points going into Saturday's encounter at the City Ground

Fresh from emerging past Wolverhampton Wanderers in the last eight of the Carabao Cup, Forest are riding a wave of enthusiasm going into the clash too.

"The fans will arrive on a high," Davies told LCFC Radio's Matchday Live show. "Being a derby match, it’s going to be that white-hot atmosphere anyway and it just cranks it up.

"There was a big gap between the teams after Leicester beat Forest back in October, but that was a watershed moment for Forest. They have changed tactics significantly since then.

Emmanuel Dennis and Dean Henderson toast Forest's Carabao Cup success over Wolves.

"They became much harder to beat and it’s slowly but surely reaping rewards and now the teams find themselves level on points, so it’s set up for a good game at the weekend.

"Both sides have got injury problems. It limits what they can do from the bench in particular. I think it’s going to be a pretty tight affair. The last two games have been blowouts either way.

"I don’t think it’ll be like that this time. Forest are much more organised than they were when they lost to Leicester.

I don’t think there will be many goals in it. It might be a case of cutting out those individual errors at times and that might decide this derby. It’s one that could go either way.

"Obviously, Leicester are missing James Maddison, who is such a key cog and we’re missing Taiwo Awoniyi most likely. He’s been the in-form attacker for Forest.

Steve Cooper's work at the City Ground continues to earn plaudits, especially among Forest supporters, and Davies was full of praise for the way he has gelled a new squad together.

"Forest fans are always impressed with Steve Cooper," he explained. "Things didn’t go well at the start of the season in terms of results.

Steve Cooper is looking to follow promotion with securing top-flight safety at the City Ground.

"They made 23 new signings and there was so much that was said about it. Cooper’s done a great job. It took a bit of time to work out the players.

"I think he’s well on the way and they’ve started to string results together, especially at home.

"They’ve only had that one away win and they can’t score goals away, but at home, they have beaten Liverpool, West Ham and [Crystal] Palace.

"They’re winning all these games 1-0 and it puts a lot of pressure on being really tight at the back. Touch wood, over the last few weeks and months, they’ve been on the right track with that."
