Away Ticket Collections Trial Continues At Brentford

Leicester City will continue its away ticket collections trial for the trip to Brentford on 18 March, as the Club continues in its efforts to tackle ticket touting and its links to violent and anti-social behaviour among match attendees.

- Limited number of away tickets for Brentford trip to be selected for collection
- Supporters selected required to present photo ID at collection point
- LCFC undertaking trial to tackle touting, violence and anti-social behaviour at away matches

The Club launched the trial for the away match at Southampton in early March, selecting a small number of away tickets at random to be collected by presenting photo ID at the venue on the day of the game.

It followed a series of reports of incidents from away matches in the last year, including violence, public disorder, drug and alcohol abuse, pitch incursions and hate crimes – many of which were carried out by attendees that had secured tickets for matches through unauthorised means.

The Club reviewed the findings of the Southampton trial – including the non-collection of 45 per cent of those tickets – with its Fans Consultative Committee on Wednesday 8 March. The trial will continue for the remainder of the 2022/23 season.

For the Brentford game, once again the vast majority of tickets will be distributed to purchasing supporters in advance as normal. However, a small number of tickets, selected at random, will be held for matchday collection at the Gtech Community Stadium. Supporters that have purchased these tickets will be asked to present a photo ID that corresponds with the owner of the match ticket in order to collect.

Those whose tickets are randomly selected for collection will be contacted directly by the Ticket Office ahead of the match with full details.

As well as tackling unacceptable behaviour, ticket ID checks help to prevent abuse of the Club’s away ticket priority system, ensuring that only supporters that legitimately qualify to access away tickets are entering visiting sections and to help combat the problem of ticket touting, which is an issue that affects many clubs and supporters.

Supporters are reminded that all away tickets purchased from the Football Club are strictly non-transferable and that the unauthorised sale of tickets may amount to a criminal offence.

Leicester City understands that these checks may cause some inconvenience and thanks supporters for their patience as it kindly asks for cooperation and understanding in this matter. These checks are necessary to ensure a safe and enjoyable experience for all fans attending away games.

Due to industrial action affecting train services on the day of the game, Leicester City will be offering free Fox Travel to supporters attending the Brentford fixture. Click HERE for more information.
