Iversen: There’s A Positive Feeling

- Leicester City welcome Everton to King Power Stadium on Monday evening

- City picked up a point against Leeds last time out
- Jamie Vardy scored a second-half equaliser at Elland Road

Over the last week, the Foxes have turned performances around in their bid for league safety by picking up four points from a possible six, after a home win against Wolverhampton Wanderers and point on the road against Leeds in midweek.

While still in the bottom three, City went into the weekend just a point behind 17th with five games left to play, and Iversen is confident in his sides' ability to keep the momentum going on Monday evening against Everton.

“Things are looking more positive, and we’ve got some good results,” the Danish ‘keeper explained. “We wanted to win the Leeds game, but in the end, we were disallowed two goals, so of course we’re disappointed not to get the three points. I think a draw was a fair result.

“We thought we got the first goal with Youri [Tieleman's] strike, but unfortunately it was offside. However, I think we have the trust in each other that we can get back into games like we did. Jamie [Vardy] scored two goals, one of which obviously didn’t stand but we’re proving that we can do it, so all is well in the camp at the moment."

Vardy got back to scoring ways with his 80th minute strike against Leeds to earn the travelling Foxes a point, after an astonishing first-half effort from Tielemans was etched off for an offside in the build-up early on at Elland Road.  

At the other end, Leicester fans will remember a couple of strong saves from Iversen which also aided in City’s well-earned draw, but the 25-year-old admits that luck was in his favour as he kept the hosts' goal tally to one.

He added: “I’d like to say that one (the 88th minute save to deny Marc Roca from close range) was a good save, but it just hit me in the face! It’s all about being in the right position and luckily it hit my head and stayed out. You always need a little bit of luck at times, and thankfully we had some then.

“It’s quite easy to stay focused when things, like big saves and opportunities, are happening all the time. It’s more difficult for a ‘keeper when you’ve not been involved in the action for 80 minutes of the game, and then the opposition have a chance late on.

“It’s always nice to make big saves, it’s my job to try and save some points for the Club, and I’ll hope to keep making an impact in the future games, starting against Everton."

Since Dean Smith’s appointment, Leicester have only lost one game, a 3-1 defeat against Manchester City at Etihad Stadium, however the No.31 was keen to say that belief has always been high around the LCFC Training Ground.

“Not a lot has changed since the new appointments within the coaching staff,” Iversen continued. “The camp has always been very positive, and we all trust in one another’s ability to get points and win games.

“Now, we just have to stay focused for the Everton match, which is a huge game. But we don’t need to think about the enormity of it, and instead just focus on the elements of our performance, and the result will come.”
