Sam Tierney Extends LCFC Women Stay
- Sam Tierney signs a two-year contract extension with LCFC Women
- The defender made 26 appearances for the Foxes during the 2022/23 campaign

The 24-year-old - who joined the Foxes from Sheffield United in 2020 - signs renewed terms at King Power Stadium to keep her in Leicestershire until at least the summer of 2025.
A key member of the City squad, Tierney made 26 appearances in all competitions during the 2022/23 season and was pivotal in helping the Club to secure top flight football for a third consecutive season.
Speaking upon signing, she said: "I am pleased to have signed a new contract with the Club. I've been with Leicester a little while now, and I am delighted to have extended my stay.
“I feel like I have more areas of my game I want to develop, and I am looking forward to helping the team in the new season. The ambitions of the Club and the coaching staff match my own and I’m looking forward to the season ahead."
A Sheffield native, Tierney started her career as an academy player with the Blades in 2006, before continuing her devolvement with Doncaster Rovers Belles in 2014. She made 42 appearances for the South Yorkshire side and later re-joined her hometown club, for whom she featured 40 times over two seasons.
Tierney is an England youth international having represented her country from Under-15s to Under-21s level and will now continue to provide valuable experience in Willie Kirk’s squad.
A consistent and reliable performer, Tierney now boasts an impressive 80 appearances for City in all competitions and was an integral member of the squad who won promotion to the top tier as Champions in 2020/21.
Her journey will now continue with LCFC Women as the Foxes prepare to face Everton on Sunday 8 October in City’s first home game of the new campaign.
