Cesare Casadei vs. Cardiff City

Cesare Casadei comes off the bench to score the winner on his Leicester City debut, sealing a 2-1 win over Cardiff City.

“I couldn't ask for more for this first game for Leicester and I'm really happy,” Casadei commented. “I didn't think at all to be honest; I was just waiting. I was ready to kick that ball and fortunately it went in the goal.

“[I was] just a little bit [nervous], but it's normal, I think. The first game I was so excited more than nervous. I was very excited to play in this stadium in front of these amazing fans and I was really happy.”

City took the lead thanks to Academy graduate Wanya Marçal stunning strike, a goal which was matched by a sensational Aaron Ramsey goal on the stroke of half-time. Enzo Maresca’s side kept plugging away, though, and eventually reaped their rewards.

“I think that was a really, really good first half,” the 20-year-old analysed. “We played really well, and we conceded a goal at the last minute, but he (Aaron Ramsey) found a really good strike, and we couldn't do anything.

“But we played very well in the first half, and in the second we stopped a little bit, but it was a great performance from us.”

Casadei knows he has to work hard to force his way into the starting XI in the coming weeks and hopes to be able to develop his game further to help assist the team with this season’s target.

'I Couldn't Ask For More From My Debut!'

Winning goalscorer and debutant Cesare Casadei reflects on Leicester City's 2-1 victory over Cardiff City.

The Italy youth international explained: “This has to be the Manager's choice. I just have to do my best and then it is his decision, it's not my decision, but of course I will do my best.

“I came here to play and I just want to play as good as I can and help the team to get promoted, because that's what we want.

“I like to defend and to attack as well. I try to do both and I just try to give my best every time I go on the pitch and help the team as much as I can.

“I don't like to talk too much before I act. I just can say that I will do my best, as I said many times and try to help the team.”
