Supporting the Royal British Legion Poppy Appeal, the Football Club will commemorate the sacrifices of servicemen and women in conflicts past and present.

Enzo Maresca and Daniel Farke, along with Club Ambassador Alan Birchenall, will lay poppy wreaths in front of the dugouts prior to kick-off, with a two-minute silence held upon the sounding of The Last Post.

A large poppy tifo will be displayed inside King Power Stadium, while City’s players will warm-up in Royal British Legion (RBL) t-shirts and wear poppies on their match shirts.

Standard bearers will line-up in front of the East Stand before the game, while volunteers from RBL will be bucket collecting outside the stadium prior to kick-off.

Match-worn shirts - adorned with poppies and signed by each player - will be auctioned via MatchWornShirt. Last season’s MatchWornShirt Poppy Appeal campaign was a spectacular success, raising more than £900,000 for RBL.

Birchenall said: “This is an important date in our calendar each year and fixtures like this one are a way for us as a Club to be able to demonstrate our gratitude and thanks to those who made the ultimate sacrifice fighting for our country.

“Therefore, I’d urge all supporters to kindly donate to the Royal British Legion Poppy Appeal if they are able to do so.”

The Royal British Legion Poppy Appeal takes place from Thursday 26 October until Remembrance Sunday on 12 November. Every year the RBL leads the nation in Remembrance across the UK to honour the contribution of our Armed Forces community, past and present.

Since it was first worn as an act of Remembrance just over 100 years ago, the red poppy has become an enduring symbol of support for our Armed Forces. Remembrance unites people of all faiths, cultures, and backgrounds.
