Grounds Honours For Leicester City

- Leicester City claim two prizes at the Grounds Management Association awards
- The Club retained the Professional Football Grounds Team of the Year trophy while also winning the Environmental and Sustainability Impact award
- Grounds Management Association awards honour the UK and Europe’s leading groundscare experts

The Club were triumphant in the Professional Football Grounds Team of the Year category – retaining their title from last year – while also scooping the Environmental and Sustainability Impact award.

The Professional Football Grounds Team of the Year award commended the work carried out across all three Club sites, King Power Stadium, LCFC Training Ground and Belvoir Drive, while also praising the department’s organisation, planning, health and safety protocols and general high-level of professional service.

Meanwhile, the Environmental and Sustainability Impact award was focused on the work at LCFC Training Ground, including wildlife habitats, seed collection and an on-site Kitchen Garden, which supplies fresh food for players and staff.

Simon Gibson, Head of Grounds at Leicester City, said: “We were able to achieve these successes thanks to the Club’s continued backing and the hard work, dedication and expertise of our teams across all sites. 

“It’s an honour to receive the awards, and further builds on the Club’s reputation as being at the forefront of the sports turf industry and is something we can all be really proud of.”

The Grounds Management Association awards honour the UK and Europe’s leading groundscare experts from both the professional and voluntary sectors, highlighting their expertise, dedication and passion for their profession.

The awards also celebrate the quality standards of groundscare achieved in public and private sports venues, while promoting the progress of young/student grounds professionals as well as entrants’ environmental considerations.
