The Under-21s defender captained the side in their 2-1 defeat to Reading at Bearwood Training Facility on Monday, a game that slipped away from the Foxes in the closing stages.

Leicester led through Tawanda Maswanhise’s goal before the Royals equalised and then grabbed a fortuitous late winner to claim the PL2 points in Berkshire.

Maswanhise Nets In Reading Reverse

Tawanda Maswanhise's goal wasn't enough for Leicester City's Development Squad to take anything from their trip to Reading in Premier League 2.

“I don't think we started off as we have been and I don't think it was really good enough in the first half, to be honest, Wormleighton assessed after full-time. “And then slowly we built into the game in the second half.

“Maybe we deserved to take the lead. But after that we got a bit naive and changed how we played a bit and took our foot off the gas a bit. A few lapses of concentration and we find ourselves behind.

“When you're in football, when you play against experienced players like we were tonight, we're going to get punished for those sort of things. But that's just experience, and we'll try and learn from it.”

'You Want To Play Against The Best'

Under-21s captain Joe Wormleighton's assessment of a narrow reverse at Reading in Premier League 2.

Facing a very experienced Reading side, who fielded several of their first team players, the 21-year-old will take a lot away from the game and how to do better in certain situations.

The full-back added: “It’s always good for us playing against the best players. That's what you want. In PL2, playing against the best lads in the country, and older lads for some of us that are looking to push into our First Team.

“So it's all that experience that we need going into the future so it was a good one for us to learn from today.”
