Maresca: We’ll Keep Playing The Same Way

The Foxes were 3-1 victors at King Power Stadium, extending the lead at the top of the Sky Bet Championship to 10 points, albeit having now played a game more than closest challengers Ipswich Town.
For Maresca, though, all focus is on his own side and how it was crucial to get the job done in front of the Blue Army, just 72 hours on from defeating Birmingham City on Filbert Way in the Emirates FA Cup.
“I’m very happy with the three points,” the Manager reflected at full-time. “We are in the last part of the season so it’s important to win games. In this moment, it’s the most important thing.
“Like always, we could do some things better, we could do some things worse, but it’s just the way we are playing since we started. For sure we can do many things better but as we said, for sure we can do things worse too.”
Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall’s third-minute strike set Leicester on the way to a 22nd victory of the league campaign, before being made to wait until the second half to double the advantage, when Stephy Mavididi converted a penalty. Both have now hit double figures in the league this term.
The Italian continued: “Sometimes scoring at the beginning helps, because it also gives you confidence, but at the same time, sometimes you can think that because you have scored early, you can relax a little bit and also the goal in the first three minutes means we relax a little bit, but in the end it’s most important to win games to reach our target.”
Yunus Akgün rounded off the home side’s scoring, though a late Joe Allen consolation denied the Foxes their second clean sheet in as many games. Attention now turns to Stoke City on Saturday, a 3pm GMT kick-off at bet365 Stadium.
“I think we created quite a few chances,” the 43-year-old added. “Two or three one-vs-one chances with the ‘keeper and we had one more with Kiernan, so we created chances. We could create more, but it’s not always easy.
“It would be very good to win again and we’re going to try to do that.”
