An Important Victory, Says Mavididi

- Penalty goalscorer Stephy Mavididi netted his 10th goal of the season at King Power Stadium
- Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall and Yunus Akgün were also on the scoresheet
- City must focus on maintaining their high levels, Mavididi says

A 22nd win of the campaign opened up a 10-point advantage at the Sky Bet Championship summit for the Foxes at King Power Stadium. Mavididi's penalty came after Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall's opener, before Yunus Akgün made sure.

Joe Allen got one back for the Swans late on, but it wasn't enough to prevent City from ending January on a high note. They are also 11 points clear of Southampton in third as the race for promotion hurtles on.

"It’s really important," Mavididi said at full-time. "Obviously, it’s really nice to win and we’ve just got to carry it on for the rest of the season and try and get as many wins as possible.

"It’s always nice to score but the most important thing is getting the three points. It was a good team performance so scoring is just a bonus."

Stepping up from 12 yards, Mavididi described the confidence he felt to take the penalty, which came at a crucial moment in the game. Swansea were just beginning to threaten Leicester's lead, but were out of sight after the spot-kick.

Full Steam Ahead, Says Mavididi

A word with Stephy Mavididi after Leicester City's 3-1 triumph at home to Swansea City in the Sky Bet Championship.

"I just had a good feeling," the winger continued. "I’ve practised them in training so, when we got awarded a penalty, I just fancied myself and I’m glad it’s gone in. I try not to think about anything.

"It’s just another kick of the ball and, like I’ve said, I practice them, so I’ve got confidence in myself."

Mavididi feels his overall game has improved since signing from Montpellier last summer and is excited to develop further over the months to come: "Personally, I feel like I’ve learned a lot since I joined the Club. I feel like I’ve progressed massively.

"Half way through the season, there’s still a lot more to come, so I’ve got to keep working hard and keep my head down and keep trying to perform in every match."
