Family Brings Football Session To Loughborough

Without the input from the Best family, PL Kicks might not be providing dozens of eight-to-18-year-olds with weekly football sessions.

- Mother Louise was a key factor in the session beginning, eldest son Gary volunteers, while youngest son Marc is a thriving participant
- PL Kicks in Loughborough has been commencing every Wednesday over the past year

A Loughborough-based family has been instrumental behind one of Leicester City in the Community’s newest community football sessions. Taking place at Charnwood Golf & Leisure, the Best family has been instrumental in the session’s success.

Louise – mother of Gary and Marc – initially brought PL Kicks to the area, while Gary is a regular volunteer, and Marc has thoroughly benefitted through participating.

PL Kicks runs every Wednesday in Loughborough.

The weekly session, funded by the Premier League Charitable Fund, has been running for over a year, which wouldn’t have been possible without the consultation of Louise Best.

“The session has helped some kids come out of their rooms,” said Louise. "Football is their life, so PL Kicks has brought them back out again. They are getting healthy and keeping fit."

While Louise brought the session to Loughborough and Gary acts a role model to those who participate, young Marc is continuing to feel the benefit of PL Kicks as Joe McSharry, Kicks County Lead at Leicester City in the Community, explains.

Marc has been a constant participant in the after school activity.

“Marc is a great story for us at Loughborough PL Kicks,” he said. “It has been brilliant for him. It has improved his behaviour at school and home; he has something to look forward to each week.”

PL Kicks runs weekly throughout school term time. Head to lcfc.com/kicks to find your nearest community football session. The session in Loughborough takes place every Wednesday from 4pm to 6pm GMT, and it is open for young people aged 12-18 years.
