A Pleasing Point In The End, Says Vardy

Leicester City’s point at Hull City could prove to be a good one come the end of the season, according to Jamie Vardy.

The Foxes showed their powers of recovery twice on Saturday, having to respond to goals from Fábio Carvalho and Anass Zaroury, in order to draw 2-2 at MKM Stadium and remain top of the Sky Bet Championship. Mads Hermansen’s penalty save also contributed to picking up a point in East Yorkshire.

“We knew it was going to be difficult,” the 37-year-old explained following full-time. “Each game is. We've come here, weathered a bit of a storm to start with and, at the end of the day, we've got a point that we will take home with us.

Vardy At The Double In Hull Draw

The key moments from Leicester City's 2-2 draw with Hull City, including a Jamie Vardy brace.

“It wasn't a perfect start, the penalty, and then Hull scoring. But again, it showed the spirit of the side that they came back not once, but twice. We've seen it back and, to be honest, it looks like the initial contact for their penalty is all outside the box.

“The ref gave it and it's just something you have to get on with. And we've got in at half-time level and then another quick set-back in the second half but managed to pull it back again. I think after that you could see that we were trying to get three points.”

City’s No.9 scored both of Leicester’s goals to take his tally of league strikes this term to 13 in 26 matches. The manner of the result was satisfying, given the way Enzo Maresca’s side showed their character to get back into the contest.

“It was pleasing,” the forward said. “I think more importantly it was straight after they've got in front. So to hit back straight away like that gives us longer to try and push on and get the three points. But today just wasn't to be.

“One hundred per cent it is a point in the right direction. You don't want to be losing, so we kept that point, we'll take it away now.

“I think you have to [mix it up]. You have to obviously adapt to the pitch and it's quite bobbly, quite dry. We noticed it had not been watered, obviously, for certain reasons they don't want the ball zipping about.

“But that's just something you have to get on with. We know that it's not going to be perfect for us every week, so we get on with it and we try to create the chances and play as best we can.

“It was a bit like a basketball game in the end. But I think you are going to get games like that. It's simple, that's football, so we get on with it. We tried, kept going to the end and it just wasn't to be.”

Vardy: We Pushed All The Way

Jamie Vardy's verdict after his two goals saw Leicester City take a point from their trip to Hull City.

Chelsea are up next at Stamford Bridge on Sunday (3:45pm GMT kick-off) in the Emirates FA Cup Quarter-Finals, with City’s league schedule resuming on Friday 29 March away to Bristol City.

“Obviously it's the FA Cup now and then international break,” Vardy added. “So we'll look forward to that and then obviously make sure we're prepared for the first game back against Bristol City.

“We'll have a day off now to recover and then we've got an FA Cup game next week, so we'll make sure we're prepared for that.”
